Congratulations to Leonard Washington and Cashmere Gardner, who were named an inductees into the Strovis Character Counts Awards program on Apr. 8.

During a presentation at Georgetown High School, representatives from Strovis  inducted Washington and Gardner as the 2018-19 honorees from the GHS basketball teams.

Washington, a student at GHS, was nominated for the award by his coach, Alvin Walker.

In nominating Washington for the award, Walker said the student-athlete is “a humble and respectful young man, and a proving young man.  The reason for picking Leon is because of his dedication and willingness to want to become a better basketball player and a good young man in today’s world.”
Gardner, a student at GHS, was nominated for the award by her coach, Tony Ford.
In nominating Gardner for the award, Ford said “Cashmere worked hard to be part of the team and always had a positive attitude.  She is a true example of a team player.” Ford went on to say that she represents the Character Trait determination.

During the presentation, the honorees were presented with a certificate and a $50 Visa gift card by Strovis Holdings COO Tracy Mau. Strovis President Tony Jordan assisted with the induction.

Gardner and Cashmere will be among 18 student-athletes to be honored this school year as Strovis Character Counts Award winners.

The Strovis Character Counts program honors student-athletes who excel in their chosen sport, as well as in life. Students who hold strong character traits are selected for the award. They are nominated by members of the coaching staff.

Strovis partnered with the Georgetown High School Bulldogs Athletic Booster Club to create the awards program in the fall of 2017.
